TNT to invest €170 million in Chinese domestic road delivery services

Shanghai, 8 September 2010 TNT today announces plans to invest €170 million over the next few years to strengthen its leadership position in the Chinese domestic road delivery market. The investment will enable TNT Hoau, TNTs road distribution arm in China, to enhance its day-definite road distribution network, introduce new services, and hire additional staff.

Freeze the Severn Bridge tolls, demands FTA

In FTAs written submission to WAC Inquiry, the leading trade body has highlighted the damage that unchecked and successive price increases have made on businesses and urged Government to freeze toll levels in 2011.

TNT unveils Chinas first fully electric delivery fleet

Amsterdam, Shanghai, 7 September, 2010 TNT today unveiled the express industrys first full electric vehicle fleet in China. The introduction of an initial number of five electric delivery vehicles further bolsters the companys efforts in reducing its carbon emissions. Peter Bakker, together with government officials such as Camiel Eurlings, Dutch Minister of Transport, unveiled the first electric vehicle at the Responsible Transport Forum at the Dutch Pavilion at the Shanghai World Expo.

New TNT Post rates from 1 January 2011 - Stamp to cost 46 euro cents

Amsterdam, 1 September 2010 TNT N.V. today announces that new rates for sending mail within the Netherlands and to destinations within Europe will apply at TNT Post per 1 January 2011. The basic domestic-mail rate for the Netherlands will increase by two euro-cents to €0.46; for mail to other European destinations the basic rate will increase to €0.79, also a two cent rise. The rate for mail being sent outside Europe will remain at its present €0.95. This price increase falls within the legal limits for price developments and is lower than the rate of inflation in the period since the start of 2007. With its new rates, TNT Post continues to charge one of the lowest postage rates in Europe.

Premiere at AeroLogic: Three women in the cockpit

Schkeuditz, 25th August 2010 An Aerologic Boeing 777F with three women pilots in the cockpit took off from LeipzigHalle Airport at 7.05 a.m. last Saturday. The crew consisted of Commander Cristina Rossi, Senior First Officer Monika Kölling and First Officer Stefanie Däubler. Their flight took them via Bahrain to Singapore before returning yesterday through New Delhi with an on-time touch-down as usual in LeipzigHalle at 5.51 p.m. Flight Operations Manager Josef Moser: "This is a premiere in international aviation. Never before has a freighter been crewed by three women pilots. We're proud of the fact that Aerologic has so many women pilots."

Strong Demand Continues - Recovery Enters Second Slower Phase

Sydney - The International Air Transport Association (IATA) announced international scheduled traffic statistics for July which showed continued strengthening of demand for both passenger and cargo traffic. Compared to July 2009, international passenger demand was up 9.2% while international scheduled freight traffic showed a 22.7% improvement.

The Freight Transport Association has welcomed the announcement by DFDS Seaways that from the end of the year it will be providing two dedicated freight vessels for its Rosyth Zeebrugge ferry service. DFDS have also announced that the current three day a week service will be increased to four. This new service is to replace the current one vessel freight and passenger mixed service, the passenger element of which has not proved viable according to DFDS.
